Brilliant. Keep shining that light and chuck the hate to the fuck-it bucket, girl!

Mary Beard, classicist at Cambridge. Torrents of hate, including rape threats, when she started her BBC series on ancient Rome.

So she wrote about how strong women were silenced throughout history in Europe.

Keep it going girl - all the hate and insults is just because they're scared....so keep scaring them.

No wonder women's studies and gender studies are the first programs to get axed when universities are working to please their funder/masters. GEEZ! So much of the stories about these women and others is new to me and I'm pushing 76. Quite a comment on educational priorities and the ways in which socialization works. Thanks!!! I'm off to buy your book now.

Emotional tenacity. Love it. And love you.

I’ve been joyfully watching big women wearing whatever the fuck they want to wear. I mentally give them major kudos, and occasionally spoken ones when they notice me gazing admiringly and ask “Whatcha lookin’ at?” Often with “bitch” added on.

I was never very big, but was still careful to hide any little rolls if possible. Had huge tits on a small body (before the reduction) and got lots of attention for them, which I hated, and really struggled to find clothes that fit.

Just turned 79 and LOVE seeing women stride into their own space. Can’t wait for my next life … I’m gonna kick ass and take names.

Now I’m gonna tell my money manager/daughter to buy me your book. And I’ll let her and her friends read it after I do.

Love you, darling

I'm the shy girl who was raised as a people pleaser. Your posts are inspirational. I was a conservative but not any more; it's been five or six years since I held those kinds of beliefs. I feel sorry for conservative women who have had the wool over their eyes. I have learned a lot about the patriarchy and continue to learn all the time. I repost stories on FB about historical women. I wish I had raised my daughter differently, but I have apologized to her and told her that women are badass!!! And, she's not conservative, which is a relief.
